Forsythia – that beautiful beacon of spring with its little yellow flowers! When the forsythias bloom, we know our long winter has ended and warm sunny days are very nearby. Did you know that this pretty little bush is an excellent indicator of other things happening in your yard? Not all good things either. The forsythia indicates that the spring weed season is officially under way.
When the forsythia bush is in full bloom, the soil temperature has reached 55°; and at 55°, crabgrass weeds start to germinate. Crabgrass leads the charge, and many other weeds follow.
The forsythias are now in bloom. Have you applied weed control to your yard yet? Its time. Those little weeds are growing like – weeds, and will be surfacing very soon!
